Beit Hashakhaf - a national framework
Beit Hashakhaf program is a national framework characterized by its high level of security and intensive supervision.
The aim of the framework:
This is a unique framework for youth suffering from the combination or part of the following disorders: severe behavioral disorders, severe organic issues and borderline intelligence, sometimes with risk for self and others.
The first three months after the resident's admittance is the time for observation and data collection from all relevant social sources, based on which a rehabilitation treatment program is built in accordance with the resident's needs and abilities.
The services offered to the resident:
Beit Hashakhaf rehabilitation framework aims to meet all the spectrum of the resident's needs, beginning with providing the primary ADL functioning (for example: personal hygiene, bed making, dressing properly and so on) and more advanced skills, such as using the social services.
Employment as continued functioning: preparation for employment within the hostel framework, including a basic learning group with a learning program adapted to cognitive abilities of each resident and serving as a basis for social orientation.
Voluntary military service - gives the clues and general understanding about the world of employment, that is what is work, types of work, work requirements, what are their real work capabilities, admission requirements. While volunteering, the residents learn about discipline rules, time management, accepting authority, productivity.
A variety of cultural and social leisure activities in the hostel territory and beyond is part of the program. The residents participate in different classes, go on day trips and fun days out, and once a year they go on an annual vacation for a few days.
As part of the program, sexual-social education activities take place, given by a third party (individually and in groups, according to personal treatment plan adapted to each resident).
In addition, there are treatment groups that focus on interpersonal relations and communication, integration in the community and acquisition of norms of behavior accepted in a society.
Furthermore, there is a variety of workshops on various topics, such as the use of the social services as much as possible, developing primary and secondary ADL skills, as well as academic skills practice
The residents are guided by the framework’s psychiatrist if needed.
The rehabilitation social worker sends the material to the local placement committee and the latter hands it over to the director of the program. After receiving the material, a program representative will contact the community social worker to call an admission committee meeting. The committee meeting is attended by: the community social worker, parents and/or guardian of the resident, the resident and any other relevant person involved in further treatment.
The hostel works in cooperation with the Rehabilitation Department in the Ministry of Social Affairs.
