Bereshit framework is characterized by its high safety level and intensive supervision. This is a rehabilitation community located in the territory of Sha'ar Menashe settlement. The center is intended for women and men of 18 and over years of age suffering from combination of the following disabilities: borderline intellectual functioning with severe organic issues, impulse control problems, impaired judgment and insight, severe ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, severe personality disorders caused by organic impairment, involving risk for the self and others.
Target population characteristics:
- borderline intelligence
- complex personality traits (personality disorders )
- violent behavior (physical, sexual, or self-directed)
- poor social functioning
- poor everyday functioning (primary and secondary ADL)
The aim of the program:
The main purpose of the center is to encourage the residents towards personal independence and community integration in the future.
The rehabilitative therapy framework combines clear boundaries, building trust and self-confidence as well as strengthening personal abilities, and providing tools to develop skills of independence, learning and growth.
Services offered to the residents:
High level of safety: the center is located in the Sha'ar Menashe hospital and secured by a complex system in order to create a straightforward supporting environment in combination with interference, according to the “Supportive Interference” program.
Best living and high maintenance conditions: modern residential building, spacious rooms, joined showers and bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, professional cook, varied and rich cuisine.
The daily routine: regular and structured.
A variety of emotion-focused therapy: individual social worker care for each resident, sexual therapy provided by a third party (individually and in groups, according to the personal treatment program adjusted to each resident), animal assisted therapy, drama therapy, and more.
Welfare activities: sports, animals, arts, music, theater, drumming, yoga. Trips and fun days out, performances within the program, unique newspaper publishing in cooperation with the residents, private library, and much more.
Steps plan and 'The Independence Ladder': behavioral rehabilitation program to strengthen the proper functioning and development of independence.
Employment: productive rehabilitation employment center that combines employment workshop, education, developmental courses and sports. The aim is to teach and develop a range of skills required for the residents to integrate in future employment rehabilitation programs.
The center currently includes:
Packing and weighing construction supplemental materials.
Providing basic academic skills.
Encouraging creative development and self-expression.
Teaching and working on gross and fine motor skills.
Teaching social skills, team work, and accepting authority.
Community rehabilitation social worker addresses the local committee which will refer the matter to a national placement committee. Upon receipt of the referral, a program representative will make contact with community social worker to call a reception committee meeting. The reception committee meeting will be attended by: community social worker, candidate's parents and/or guardian, the candidate and any person involved in the subsequent treatment.
